Tim Körner becomes new CEO at hosting provider World4You - 17.05.2021

Change of management at World4You: The founder is leaving the company at his own request after more than 22 years. He is followed by Tim Körner.

When Johannes Kührer founded World4You out of his garage in Neuhofen an der Krems in 1998, so to speak, the web hosting company was one of the first from Austria. Since then, World4You has risen to become one of the leading brands for domains and hosting from Austria and is a household name in the entire German-speaking web hosting market.

Johannes Kührer has never lost his hands-on mentality. Even after the sale to IONOS SE (GMX, web.de, 1&1, IONOS, Strato), the CEO had not withdrawn, but continued to be heavily involved in day-to-day operations. If necessary, even at the grassroots level: to this day, customers still ask to speak directly with Johannes.

The founder hands over the reins

After almost 23 years, Johannes Kührer announced his retirement at his own request: "An immediate exit was already on the cards when we sold the company two years ago. Of course, as a newly minted father at the time, I thought about it. But it was always important to me that I hand over the company cleanly and properly to someone who understands our philosophy and wants to continue to pursue it. I've been working with Tim on the transition for a few months now, and I know that World4You is in very safe hands with him."

Tim Körner, the new CEO, has worked on key growth initiatives during his eight years at the group's sister company IONOS and was already instrumental in the acquisition of World4You. Over the past two years, Tim Körner has transformed and successfully expanded the IONOS marketing organization. Prior to IONOS, he worked at the strategy consulting firm Detecon, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom.

Now he stepped down from his position as Head of Global Marketing & Commercial Management at IONOS and took over the CEO role of World4You in May:

"Johannes has built up this great company and when you talk to the employees, you realize right away that he is known above all for his human, uncomplicated and efficient manner. Therefore, I would like to say thank you to Johannes for everything he has done over the past decades."

We'll be back in a moment!
