The .tl Domain

.TL is the country-specific top-level domain of the state Democratic Republic of East Timor, an island state in Southeast Asia. With the Carnation Revolution in Portugal the long road to independence of East Timor begun. With the end of World War II West Timor was dismissed from the Netherlands straight to independence. In 1975 East Timor prepared for independence, but a civil war prevented this. When independence was finally proclaimed, East Timor was annexed after only nine days of Indonesia. Only with the support of the United Nations, the independence of East Timor in 2002 could finally be completed.
