The .ax Domain

.AX is the top-level domain for Åland, an archipelago in the northern Baltic Sea between Sweden and the Finnish mainland. Only about 60 of the more than 6,700 islands are inhabited, about 90% of all inhabitants are on Fasta Åland.

The officially Finnish region is largely autonomous, but the official language is Swedish. Official currency is the Euro, in addition, the Swedish krona is often accepted.

The economy of the islands largely depends on tourism and shipping. Numerous tax benefits and a low unemployment rate make Åland one of the most prosperous regions of Finland and Europe.
